Here are a few simple tips to get you started:
Share YOUR Story
Show your friends and family why you love visiting Como. Have you been to camp or class? Did you visit with your school group? Share a favorite memory about the Zoo or Conservatory to explain why Como is important to you. When you tell others why Como is special to you, they will start to see Como as the treasure it is and why they should support your cause!
Set a Goal and an Example
We all love working toward a goal- the closer you are to reaching a fundraising goal, the more your friends and family will want to help! Set a goal you can reach and make a donation yourself. It will set an example for others to follow and show you are determined to support Como!
Connect and Thank!
When you first reach out to friends and family, give them a call, send an email, reach out on social media or have a talk face to face. By connecting with friends and family in more than one way, you increase the chances of them making a donation! It also allows you to keep your supporters updated on your progress. When they do make a donation, thank them with a note, card or call-out on social media! Thanking donors is just as important as asking for donors to give!
Now it’s the time to get the word out and start collecting donations. Remember, the hardest part is making an ask to your friends and family, but you aren’t asking them to donate to you, you are asking them to donate to Como and support the plants and animals!
